KAREN KERN is the woman who makes it all happen! Karen is known for inspiring her students to achieve their goals by instilling the importance of hard work and determination. She believes that a dance studio should not only be a place for students to learn how to dance, but also a place for people to come together as a community. Karen is proud to provide a place in which dancers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can come together to experience the amazing benefits of dance. She proudly lives by her studio motto, “Dream, believe, achieve!”

Karen has been dancing since the age of nine. Her talent and work ethic earned her a dance scholarship for the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy of Michigan, where she studied until her graduation in 1986. In addition to her travels and touring with Interlochen’s Dance Ensemble, she was also accepted into the Lakes Area Ballet Company. She also attended Eastern Michigan University as an off-campus senior. During her time in college, she not only continued her dance studies and began teaching, but also was able to successfully open her studio at the age of seventeen. Throughout her career, Karen has trained under many respected choreographers including Donna Mihalik, Robert Gatzke, Peter Sparling, Bella Lewitzky, Joe Tremaine, Barry Lather, Gay Delange, Steven Whistrich, Betsy Dickie, Vicke Emmert, and many others.

Throughout the years, Karen’s accolades have continued to accumulate. She and her students have earned countless coveted awards, including Overall High Point, Technical Excellence, Studio of the Year, Choreography of the Year, Judge’s Choice, Performance, FDC, Top Studio, and Sportsmanship Awards to name a few. Along with running her studio and training dancers, Karen also currently judges for several National Competition Companies throughout the U.S. Many of Karen’s students have gone on to pursue dance at the collegiate and professional level and have found tremendous success throughout their careers. Karen is proud to provide the resources for dancers to achieve their dreams.
